Every couple of months I like to gather up my favorite moments with my students and make a short video compilation.
Every time something funny, sweet, special or downright entertaining happens I write it down on my little notepad beside me at my desk to come back to later.
Honestly, I questioned how connected I could feel to my students as their online teacher at first. After being a brick and mortar teacher, I failed to understand how a computer screen could help me make personal and lasting connections with students across the world from me. Boy was I SO wrong.
I have celebrated birthdays, met their friends, eaten in restaurants with them, saw pictures of their families and pets, been invited into school performances and accomplishments, laughed and felt sad with them. It’s truly amazing.
These moments help me remember why I love this job, even at 3:00am in the morning, even when I don’t feel like it, even when I don’t feel like I’m making a difference.
I truly do have the sweetest students and the best job in the world.
